The BG FOLLIES of 2012

It is this time of the year again...Bergdorf Goodman Holiday windows and this time again I was mesmerized. The windows unfold across five acts, called The BG Follies of 2012, the windows were inspired by entertainments such as the Ziegfeld Follies, Vaudeville revues and Busby Berkeley’s Hollywood musicals of the 1930s.

David Hoey directing his visual team before the unveiling, and I was very happy to thanks him for the joy that his windows bring.

The night I was there they were still working on "Follies in Miniature," starring tiny antique mannequins from the 1940s.

Act V is an homage to Busby Berkeley’s overhead kaleidoscopic camera shot seen in Footlight Parade. To complement the mirrored effect in this duo act are two custom-created gowns from Naeem Khan

Act IV,highlights 24 plaster dogs performing every trick under the sun and feature a runway look from Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2013 runway collection.

Called Naughty and Nice, Act II is a tribute to burlesque performer Sally Rand, inventor of the risque fan dance.

Act I, is a black and white homage to Marilyn Monroe in Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot (complete with silver ukulele)

One time more David Hoey and his team proved to be the best of the best. Stores around the world should take notice, looking at you sad French department stores...
